Neville Shute was a world famous author, six of his books being made into films - famously A town like Alice and On the Beach.
His second novel So Disdained features Petersfield.
Visiting his parents in Liss he met Flora Twort, proposed and was turned down but they remained friends till his death.
Bill Gosney spoke at the Petersfield Area Historical Society on Wednesday 14 January all about him and the magic of these stories of links with Petersfield's past and some collected at the Museum
